How long do your candles burn for?

Large candles burn for approximately 40 hours.

What are your candles/wax melts made from?

We create our own distinctive blends of wax and fragrance to ensure a reliable scent, premium burn and charming appearance with excellent scent throw.

Our vegan soy candles are made from completely plant-based natural wax. They also contain hydrated soya oil and unique vegetable sourced additives.

The wax melts are made up primarily of natural soy bean and blended with smaller portions of sustainably sourced, certified palm wax; premium grade paraffin wax; and a unique plant-based additive.

What are your wicks made from?

We use fibre wicks with a specially treated fibre core that completely consumes the wick.

This advanced fibre core burns beautifully, so you’re not left with an unsightly metal wire protruding from the flame.

Are your products tested on animals?

Our candles are not tested on animals.

What if my items are out of stock?

Occasionally items are out of stock. We do restock frequently so please check back at a later date or feel free to message us.

When should I expect delivery?

You should receive your parcel within 7 working days of placing your order.

On occasions some candles and melts are made to order to meet demand, these will take slightly longer to arrive but we would notify you of this once the order has been placed. 

However if we are out of stock and have agreed to make to order the timescale could be longer but you will be advised of this.

Can I track my item?

You can track your item with the reference number on your confirmation email.

If you have not received an email and wish to track your order, please contact us at themidlandscandlecompany@yahoo.co.uk and we will do our best to track it for you.

What if my item doesn’t arrive?

Please ensure you contact us within 28 days if your parcel hasn't arrived.

Can I amend my order?

Please check your confirmation as soon as you have placed your order and send through any changes to themidlandscandlecompany@yahoo.co.uk ASAP.

We can’t guarantee the changes will be made but we’ll do our best. 

Do you ship to Ireland?

Yes, we do ship to Northern Ireland. Please process your order online and the cost of shipping will be calculated for you at checkout.

Do you do samples?

We can provide a small sample of request and we will be launching sample options on the website shortly.

Can I collect my order?

If you live in Hinckley or local villages we may be able to arrange a drop-off or collection, just contact us via the website and we’ll do our best to help.

What should I do if my candle isn't burning evenly?

The wax and wicks we use are designed to burn evenly, but you also need to burn them in the right way to ensure they melt evenly.

We recommend burning your candle for at least an hour and no longer than four hours. You should also not relight it within 45 minutes.

This will ensure the wax burns in an even layer and that it is completely cooled before you relight your candle.

You should also trim the wick down to around 5mm above the wax before you light it, in order to control the size of the flame.

Following these instructions will give you the best results and help you get the most from your candles.

We also provide a candle care sheet with your delivery, however if for any reason you have not received one please do let me know and we can email you a copy.

Why is there a liquid residue on the top of my candle?

We use ample levels of fragrance in our candles so you get strong fragranced candles. Sometimes excess oil which the wax doesn't need can form as a little residue on the top of the candle. If you simply wipe it off, the candle will burn normally for you.

Why is there a frosty look around parts of the outside of my candle?

This is quite normal for soy candles and is to do with the temperature of the environment and even the container at time of candle pouring. This makes no difference to the quality of the candle scent.

What should I do if the flame of my candle is too big?

Wild flames are dangerous, and can result in fast and uneven candle burning.

If the flame of your candle is too large, or smoking, you should blow the candle out straight away.

To prevent large flames, always ensure the wick is trimmed down to around 5mm above the wax before lighting your candle.

If you’ve trimmed the wick and the flame is still too large, or is moving around too much, the wick could be receiving too much oxygen. To avoid this, make sure the candle is not placed in a draught or place where air is flowing.

What does ‘scent throw’ mean?

‘Scent throw’ is how strong the fragrance smells.

‘Cold throw’ is the strength of fragrance before lighting and ‘hot throw’ is when the flame is lit.

How do I keep my candle safe?

  • Never leave a burning candle unattended
  • Burn well out of reach of children and pets
  • Keep well away from flammable items
  • Observe minimum distance between two burning candles
  • Only stand on inflammable surfaces — use suitable containers or candleholders
  • Do not expose the candle to draughts or other air flows e.g. radiators
  • Keep the burning bowl free of impurities and flammable materials
  • Extinguish sooting, flickering candles — trim the wick and/or rim before re-lighting
  • Do not move the candle when the wax in the burning bowl is still liquid
  • Never extinguish a burning candle with water
  • Never pour hot wax down your kitchen sink or drain.
